  • 1 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 medium eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk chocolate chips or semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 14 ounces unwrapped caramels
  • 5 ounces canned evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt; gradually combine with wet ingredients.
  5. Spread half of the dough in the prepared dish and bake for about 10 minutes until slightly golden.
  6. Meanwhile, melt caramels with evaporated milk over low heat until smooth.
  7. Once the base is baked, pour half of the caramel over it and sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Drop spoonfuls of remaining cookie dough over this layer.
  8. Bake again for another 10-15 minutes until set and golden on top.
  9. Drizzle remaining caramel over warm bars and swirl in peanut butter before cooling completely.
